Today’s sketch book collage, abstracted from a 1960 book reproduction of a 19th century illustration of something or other, which now becomes nothing or another. Come to think of it, that’s a pretty good definition of “collage.”

The latest: This xerox collage (paste-up version: click on it to enlarge and you will see all the cut marks, Sharpie and white-out additions) is my contribution to a grad student’s silkscreen zine project on the theme of geology, and today’s one-a-day sketch book drawing, with no relation in my head to rocks, other than coincidence.

A 1986 flyer, 17 x 11 inches, offset printing, blue on pink bond paper. Designed while I was a graduate student at Cranbrook for a collage show at the Detroit Artists Market, which also included me among the artists in the exhibition. But my name is in a type face different from all the others used, meant as an indication of the designer’s role or credit for the piece.
